1.3 Introductions – Each attendee introduced themselves and their organisation with a brief background

2.0 WORKSHOP – What role woll FNQVI and the VCMN play to assist member organisations – including workshops – in 2019?
Participants were asked to work in pairs to come up with ideas and then provide feedback to the meeting.

  • FNQVI to facilitate the co-ordination of training workshops and seminars
  • Should any organisation or individual have particular expertise
  • PLEASE volunteer your skills to facilitate/present a workshop/seminar

3. OVERVIEW OF FEEDBACK
a. Identifying role of FNQVI – Mission, Focus, Objectives and Outcomes to increase partnership opportunities.
b. Who is the Membership?
c. What constitutes the community in relation to the role of FNQVI and it’s members?

3.1 FNQVI – Role and Responsibilities
a. VCMNM creates networking opportunities – to share from the organisations database
b. Mentoring through the network; collective impact through collaboration
c. Peer Support
d. Training

3.2 Promotion of Volunteering
a. Volunteer Expo (VExpo) – Annual event last Sunday in July at Tanks Market
b. Mini VExpo ‘pop-up’ displays in shopping centres and other community gathering places/events – periodic as identified
c. Showcase your organisation – Register interest in ‘pop up’ VExpo participation
d. Feedback – How many new volunteers signed up due to VExpo? – which organisations now supporting them?
e. Any further Suggestion for VEXpo 2019 will be warmly received

3.3 RESOURCES
a. Resource Pack to be available from FNQVI (Paper and On-line)
b. Pack developed for new volunteers – What to expect from your volunteer organisation – Rules and regulations
c. Policies -“What does it mean to be a volunteer?”
d. Resource Pack available for new organisations- set-up, volunteer support, management
e. Tools to assist organisations
f. Software Systems – share knowledge re effective volunteer data base

  • Volunteer Legislation – Police Check, Blue Card, Child protection, First Aid, Insurance
  • Monitoring and Evaluation

  • Coaching – how do we help people do what they want to do?  Elicit work volunteer would like to do

  • Emotional Intelligence
  • Mental health
  • Cultural Awareness
  • Skills Audit (Centacare recording Community Assets register will be available in the future)
  • Self-care (setting boundaries ,mindfulness etc.)

4.0 VOLUNTEER MANAGEMENT
Cert IV in Volunteer Management – Volunteering Queensland

  • Expressions of interest to be directed to FNQVI to determine if and when this can be scheduled.
  • ASAP – WOULD LIKE TO CONFIRM TRAINING FOR FIRST QUARTER OF 2019

5.0  VOLUNTEER REWARDS
Volunteer of the Year Annual Awards – May – FNQVI

  • Membership to make nominations of their volunteers for consideration
  • Participation from member organisations needed for success of awards

       Current Awards:

  • Long Term – awarded to a volunteer who has dedicated time and energy to an organisation over many years
  • Short term – awarded to a volunteer who, in a short period of time has made a significant contribution to an organisation

          Develop new awards:

  • Require suggestions for a range of Awards honouring the service and contribution of volunteers
